Out Reach Drop In Centre at East Delhi in collaboration with National Institute of Social Defence, M/O Social Justice & Empowerment.

The Out Reach and Drop in Centre provides safe and secure drop-in space for drug users in the community . This Center has the provision of screening, assessment and counselling and provides referral and linkage to treatment and rehabilitation servicesfor drug dependents.

LEGAL AWARENESS

The ‘Sanstha’ had felt the necessity of awakening the masses for their legal, constitutional & statutory and other rights in the beginning itself. Therefore, in continuity of the programs already in vogue, the ‘Sanstha’ agreed to the proposals of the Delhi Legal Aid Service Authority to authenticate the legal guidance. The Delhi Legal Aid Service Authority Act warrants certain statutory powers to the centers to resolve the disputes.  The ‘Sanstha’ hosted a grand ceremony to mark the beginning of the centers in the ‘Sanstha’ in the year 2003. The program was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Chief Justice of Delhi Hon’ble Mr. Justice S. B. Sinha& was attended by five other Hon’ble Judges of the High Court of Delhi. The centers are a grand success and the centers have the credit of resolving some very serious disputes. Even the Crime against Women Cell of Delhi Police refers the cases for resolution to the at ‘Sanstha’.

CONSUMER AWARENESS

The ‘Sanstha’ is also a proud participant in the movement of the consumerism in the country.  Even in the meetings that were conducted during the survey for SHG the experts of the ‘Sanstha’ used to aware the participants in the Consumer Protection Act enacted by the Parliament.  The ‘Sanstha’ in its sponsored / non sponsored classes, awareness campaigns for admitting the children as well as under the other programs hosts the lecture on the consumer movement and the other issues.

The Sanstha has been conducting various programmes in different areas of North East Delhi and responsibilities relating to propagation of consumer rights like:-

Consumer Rights:-

 1) Rights to safely, (2) Right to information, (3) Rights to choose, (4) Rights to be heard, (5) Rights to redressal, (6) Rights to consumer education, (7) Rights to Healthy Environment, (8) Right to basic needs.

Consumer Responsibilities:-

Consumer has to keep in mind almost various responsibilities before trying, while trying & after buying a particular item or product.

Consumer production Act, 1986

The Act encourages a three tier quasi judicial system. They are known as. (I) District Disputes Redressal Forum, (II) State Disputes Redressal Commission and (III) National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

Providing Consumer education to rural masses (through Women Self Help Group/through Residents Welfare Associations) and in urban areas.

Generating awareness through work seminars, Propagating through nukkadnatak etc.   

ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS

The environment forms the part of the regular awareness activities along with consumer/ anti-smoking / anti-alcoholism and eradication of social evils activities run by the ‘Sanstha’.  The ‘Sanstha’ is continuously working on the scheme of promoting the use of jute / cloth / hard paper bags and minimizing the use of poly plastic bags, which have been causing a serious hazard to our environment. Further the ‘Sanstha’ is continuously motivating for setting up the garbage centers and garbage picking by the thela/rehris etc. and encouraging plantation.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT

In collaboration with Delhi Govt., the Sanstha organized Drama/Cultural programme under Prohibition Propaganda Campaign to sensitize the vulnerable section of the society in various places of East Delhi.

UTTRANCHAL, RAJASTHAN AND UTTAR PRADESH

The head office had also been calling upon the state units to remain active and vigilant towards the causes of the society.  As per the reports received, the units had been active throughout the year celebrating the different days e.g. No Smoking Week, Environment Day, International Day, Prevention Day, World Population Day, Women’s Day, Independence Day, Vishwakarma Day, Children Day, International AIDS Day, Republic Day, Consumer Week etc.

Apart from this the vocational training center at Uttaranchal is running satisfactorily. The Sanstha’s vocational training center Firozabad UP is also running well.

FIELD WORK, PLACEMENT FROM DIFFERENT UNIVERSITIES & COLLEGES

During the year under report, students of BSW & MSW from the University of Delhi, IGNOU, Kurushetra and JamiaMiliaIslamia were sponsored for undergoing training in various subjects.
